Virginia Smith

Virginia Bridges Smith, 90, of Searcy passed away May 8, 2015. She was born on November 16, 1924, in Delta County, Texas to Harvey W. Bridges and Gladys V. Bridges. She was a very loving and beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Virginia was a devout Christian, loved people and nature. She was a musician, composer, free lance writer, poet, and oil painter. Virginia was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Searcy and the Searcy Beethoven Club, as well as the Poet's Roundtable of Arkansas. She was also a past president and chaplain of Searcy DeMolay Mother's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Elaine Oleta Prock, Dorothea Ferne Jenkins, and Farra Fay "Tacky" Buckman, and one brother, Edwin Elmo Bridges all of northeast Texas; one granddaughter, Leslie A. McAlister of Centerton.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 70 years, William E. "Bill" Smith of Searcy; one daughter, Sheridan E. Stracener (Danny) of Bella Vista; one son, Anthony E. Smith of Searcy; three great grandsons, Garrison S. Snell of Nashville,Tennessee; PFC Greyson C. Snell USMC of Twenty Nine Palms, California; and Garrett D. Snell of Fayetteville.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Gum Springs Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
