Verlie Russell Brackenridge

Verlie R. Brackenridge, 78, of Searcy passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home. He was born June 4, 1938 in Marshall, Arkansas to the late Ocie and Lena (Galloway) Brackenridge.

Verlie was a wonderful husband, dad, and papa. He had a heart of gold. Verlie was a sweet talker, who could make you feel guilty by just talking to you; which was worse than a whipping. All his in-laws (the Turner family) he viewed as brothers, and sisters. He loved them as his own. Verlie loved to watch westerns. He was a story teller, and all his stories would start with "back in the day." He loved to piddle in his shop. One of his favorite past times was to talk on the CB, his handle was "Jocko." Verlie was very loving husband, daddy, papa, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his three daughters, Rhonda Muce, Darlene Flynn (Sam), and Elonda Chaney (Eddie) all of Searcy; two brothers, James and Leon Darrell Brackenridge; four sisters, Shirley Howard, Sylvia Hooten, Geraldine Coleman, and Joyce Stevans; five grandchildren, Jason Muce, Wendy Muce Frasier (Frank), April Flynn, Jennifer Eickmeyer, and Jonathan Chaney; and four great grandchildren, Kaleb Muce, Cameron Muce, Sammy Eickmeyer, and Mimi Eickmeyer.

In addition to his parents Verlie was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Brackenridge; three brothers, Laverl, Tommy, and Eddie Brackenridge; and three sisters, Goldie Jones Reed, Doris Schmidts, and Juanita Rigsby.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Searcy McEuen Chapel with Pastor Danny Whitley officiating.
Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.
