Ruby Jewel Hughes

Ruby Jewel Hughes, 89, of Heber Springs, died August 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born October 29, 1922 to the late Arnie and Ruth Allen Calhoun.

She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She will be forever remembered for her dedication and hard work on the farm working beside her late husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband U. M. Hughes; daughter, Paulette Southerland; one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Donald M. Hughes and wife Mai of Florida; daughters, Shirley Ann Hughes Phillips of North Carolina, Violet M. Hughes Willis and husband Sidney of Heber Springs, Kathy K. Hughes Mason and husband James of Memphis; eighteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 6 at the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Good Springs Cemetery near Heber Springs.
