Retha Ann Vest

Retha Ann Vest, 61, of Searcy passed away Tuesday, November 19th at White County Medical Center. She was born February 9, 1952 to the late Thurman Benjamin Pasley and Jewell Gladys Johnson Pasley in Helena, Arkansas.
She graduated from Pangburn High school in 1970 and continued her education at the Foothills VoTech where she also graduated. During her senior year at Pangburn she was the newspaper editor. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Richard Vest and they were happily married for 41 years. She worked for Searcy Public Schools for 25 years in the cafeteria where she served as manager for 20 years and also driving a Searcy school bus for 20 years. She served at Camp Wyldewood for over 20 years as a cook. She was a troop leader of Girl Scouts of America for 15 years. She won the Louise Sublette Award of Excellence in 2002 and 2003. She was a member of Foster's Chapel Baptist Church. When her grandson was born she retired in order to spend time at home spoiling him. Along with her many achievements she also enjoyed sewing, camping, fishing, and gardening. She cherished her family and treasured her grandson. She was a loving wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father in-law, S.J. Vest of Kensett; one daughter, Tammy Leann Vest; one brother, Noel Dean Pasley; and one nephew, Ben Pasley of North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard Vest; two daughters, Krystal Gail Vest Gregory (James) of Camden and Jessica Renee Vest (Robert Castro) of Pangburn; her mother in-law, Jean Vest of Oil Trough; two brothers, Robert Morene Pasley of Elkhart, Texas, and Jerry Wayne Pasley of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister, Brenda LaVelle Clare of Searcy; and one grandson, Darin Lane Vest and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 22nd at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with burial following at a later date.

So sorry Mrs. Retha will no longer be with us. Excited for her as she begins her reward. Will miss her sweet smile and friendly demeanor. Wish we could be at the service but family matters are taking us out of town for a while. Please know we will be there in spirit.
