Paul Harvey Wrye

February 18, 1920 — September 6, 2007

Paul Harvey Wrye, age 87, of Searcy, died Thursday, September 6, 2007. He was born February 18, 1920 in San Angelo, Texas to the late Paul Henry and Mary Foster Wrye. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He was a member of Cloverdale Church of Christ. He was a resident of Searcy for 7 years and for the last 6 months at Searcy Healthcare Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Wrye; two sons, Clinton Willoughby Wrye and Jan Paul Wrye; a brother, William Henry Wrye; and a great-granddaughter Gioia Carise Wrye.

He is survived by his son, Jon Mark Wrye and wife Joyce of Searcy; grandchildren, Jon Matthew Wrye and wife Miriam of Searcy, Jared Michael Wrye and wife Angie of Searcy, Joshua Marcus Wrye and wife Ellen of Fort Collins, Colorado, Jacob Marshall Wrye of Searcy, and Jana Michelle Wrye of Searcy; great grandsons Michael Tillman Wrye of Searcy and Jeremiah Lorenzo Wrye of Searcy.

From his youth he served in the Lord's church in many ways. He was a Bible class teacher, a deacon, an elder, and he helped lead many to obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband and father. He was one of the founders of Christian Schools, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, and served on its board of trustees.

His chosen vocation was sales, and he loved to visit with people and build relationships with them. He worked for the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) and the Lipton Tea Company in Texas, and built a successful independent insurance agency in New Mexico. Wherever he traveled on this earth, he always found beauty in God's creation. But New Mexico was his favorite place; he lived there for almost 50 years. Now, though, he has a new home that is more beautiful than any we could ever imagine.
