Mildred “Montine” Fisher was granted her reward of eternal life on Thursday, August 29th, 2024 at 91 years of age.
She was born to the late Thomas “Jiles” and Ethel Joslin on March 22, 1933 in Jackson County, Arkansas and was raised by her father and six siblings after her mother passed away. Montine was a woman of deep faith and a long-time parishioner at West Side Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas. She was a devoted and loving wife of almost 70 years.
Montine was wonderful mother, a doting and sweet grandmother and great-grandmother. Montine married Maurice Lee Fisher in 1949 and they went on to have two children, Dennis in 1950 and Morris “Alan” in 1953.
Montine was a kind soul who often cared for others and was known as a sweetheart. In the sixties and seventies, Montine worked as an advocate for troubled youths in the Michigan Court system. She received countless awards and letters of recommendation for her hard work and dedication.
Montine was predeceased by her parents Jiles and Ethel, her husband Maurice, her son Dennis Fisher and his wife Nancy, her son Alan, her five brothers J E, Coleman, Richard (Dick), James, and Billy Joe her sister Beatrice and numerous other family and friends.
She leaves behind three grandchildren, Lori Fisher, Christopher Fisher and Kevin Fisher (Morgan), two great-grandchildren, Michaela (Robert) and Violet as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A small graveside service will be held at Watson Cemetery in Newport, Arkansas at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
