Mary Lena Feltrop Cook, 89 of Searcy passed away at her home on August 27, 2023. She was born August 25, 1934, in Crosby, Arkansas to Lucy Ellen Edwards Feltrop and William Feltrop.

She was a graduate of Searcy High School where she was a member of the Lady Lions Basketball Team.

She married Kenneth Cecil Cook on February 17, 1953, after he returned home from serving in the Army. They moved to Texas and Oklahoma for a few years while Kenneth was surveying for Phillips 66. In 1957, they returned to Searcy where they made their home. While raising 3 active kids, Mary worked for the Health Department, Garrison’s Jewelry/Leslie Jewelers, and the Downtown JC Penney. She also enjoyed many years selling Mary Kay Cosmetics.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was in the choir, Ladies Guild, and Senior Group. She loved her St. James and St. Richard’s Church family. She also had a special place in her heart for The Franciscan Brothers.

She was an active member of the Little Indian Creek Extension Homemakers Club for over 60 years. She enjoyed her fun times with the Red Hat Ladies, Farkle with her Senior Group, and trips to the casino with family and friends.

She battled health problems for a lot of her life but was always outgoing with a never stop attitude. It was like she was a cat with nine lives, and she lived them all to the fullest!
