Martha Alice Storey

Martha Alice Storey, 76, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family in a room filled with love. Martha was born in Searcy on October 3rd, 1947 and attended Searcy Public Schools. She was a popular student and a Captain of the Searcy High School Lionsteppers. Martha would grow to become a competitive tennis player and won many local and regional titles. She was a funloving lady who loved the sunshine! Martha’s heaven will include many sunny beaches. The love of her life and husband of 43 years, Thomas (Rickey) Storey preceded her in death two years earlier. In addition to her beloved husband, Rick, she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Richard and Willie Wooten. She is survived by an adoring son, Ken and Karen Yarbrough (Florida), a sister, Mary Jane and Joe Yingling of Searcy, step-daughters Wendy Storey-Chambers (Tennessee), Kim Storey-Mapes (Texas), Niece and Nephew Lauren Bell and Joseph Yingling and three grandchildren, Eddie Mapes, Nathan Chambers and Addison Chambers. Martha was a long-time member of First Methodist Church.
Per Martha’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. Martha’s cause of death was Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare form of aggressive skin cancer. There is only one facility in the world dedicated to the research, treatment and cure of Merkel Cell cancer. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks for donations in Martha’s memory to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, 1100 Fairview Ave N., Mail Stop J5-200, Seattle, WA 98109 Attn: Gift Services
