Martha Lewis Niece

April 10, 1942 — September 5, 2023

Romance

Martha Lewis Niece was born to Stanley and Edith Lewis in Hot Springs, AR, April 10, 1942. She died September 5, 2023. She is survived by her sons, Hal Niece (Traci) of Vilonia and Romance, Alan Niece of Romance, and David Niece of Romance; two grandsons, Hunter and Heath Niece of Vilonia and Romance. She also leaves to mourn a sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Jerry McIntyre of Little Rock, and a niece, Laura McIntyre of Paris, France.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas A. Lewis.

She grew up on a small farm and was tasked with milking cows. She loved horses and was a member of the Hot Springs Riding Club where she enjoyed trail rides and became a barrel racer. Martha had an extensive work history including bookkeeper at Hot Springs Florist as a teenager, personal secretary to Municipal Judge, M.C. Lewis, Jr., as well as to attorneys Bill Mitchell and Bill Green; personal secretary to Odell Pollard and Bill Hastings Law Firm; personal secretary to attorneys O.M. Young and Louis Rosteck; accounting and insurance work at Lowell Perkins Agency, plus several short-term positions in various locations. She started her own business in 1971 primarily known as Kentucky Valley Bookkeeping and Tax Services, and has continued to work out of her home since then with a client base that resulted in her working far and beyond regular office hours. Her clients looked to her to solve whatever problems that arose and were rarely disappointed. She lived on a 565-acre farm and worked out of her home there. Though she didn’t ride them, she kept several horses to look at.

Life dealt her many cruel hands, but she somehow repeatedly rose above the situations and gave it her all with cheerfulness and a positive spirit to make those around her safe and secure. She always thought of others and helped a myriad of people, both the deserving and the not so deserving, with knowledge, wisdom, and sacrifices. Her faith in God and his promises sustained her. Her loved for animals was unsurpassed and the ones she had were very fortunate indeed. Though she didn’t physically like traveling, she went many exciting places through her love of reading. She always said that she got homesick when she passed her mailbox as she left home.

You deserve to rest after all of your trials and tribulations and it is felt certain that you will rest in peace and rise in glory to a life that you deserve where you will continue to use your many talents to help others and where many more will be given to you. You will be greatly missed-especially by Alan.
