Leonard Dale Southard, 71 of Searcy, passed away April 16th, 2026. He was born December 22 1954, to Dale Southard and Elwanda (Bennett) Southard.
Leonard was a hard worker. He spent his early days as a welder and mechanic before settling on operating heavy equipment as a construction worker. His passion was the bulldozer and he could use it to shape the ground to perfection. He worked at several local excavating companies spending most of his career at Spurlock Inc., and finished his career with Johnny Brock Excavating.
He was an avid guns man, he enjoyed collecting them and talking about them. His favorite hobby was a day spent at the gun range with friends, loading shells or teaching anyone interested how to shoot. He was a very creative person whose talents extended to many areas. He could draw, paint and carve pretty much anything you could imagine. He spent several snow seasons creating life size snow art in his driveway. He also enjoyed building furniture, creating items from leather and photography. His favorite thing to photograph were eagles.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 34 years, Peggy Southard, along with several close family members and many friends who became family throughout his life.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
