Lanie Jay Langley, 92, of Searcy, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, after a life well-lived. He was born on January 22, 1933, to Maudie Zora Quattlebaum Langley in Joy, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Vonnie May Meharg Langley; his mother; and eleven cherished siblings.
Lanie was a devoted family man who dearly loved his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He was ordained as a deacon in 1987. He was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Letona. He enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, reading, and watching old Westerns. Most of all, he loved life on the farm, especially caring for his cows.
He is survived by his two daughters, Paula K. Langley of Searcy, and Cristy L. Langley Waire of Pangburn and her husband, Rick. He was a proud grandfather to Amber Dillon Bramlett of Searcy and her husband, Scott; Blaine Waire of Searcy and his wife, Jamie; Dustin Langley of Searcy; and Shelby Waire King of Heber Springs and her husband, Jordan. His eight great-grandchildren—Kaylie, Wesley, and Carson Waire; Beau, Ryan, and Max Wilder Bramlett; and Callie and Clark Henry King—were a source of great joy and pride. Lanie is also survived by dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.
Lanie’s legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
