Joe Taylor Buchanan

Joe Taylor Buchanan, age 75 of Searcy died Sunday, September 21, 2008. He was born September 26, 1932 in Hoxie, Arkansas to the late Clay Buchanan and Freda Buchanan (Starnes).

He proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy. After his retirement from the military, he joined the Searcy Police Force, graduating from the Camden Police Academy at the top of his class. Later he was employed by the DK & S and Missouri (MOPAC) railroads, from which he also retired.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Dave) Webb and Cherie (Kevin) Isham of Searcy, one son, Joe Buchanan, Jr. of Oklahoma, one sister, one brother, three nieces, five grandchildren, one of those being a granddaughter, Taylor Isham, who is named after her Papa, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty of 50 years, one sister, one brother, and a nephew.
