Jennie L. Ward

Jennie L. Ward, 85, of Searcy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Searcy.

She was born September 29, 1940, in Newport, Arkansas, to the late Jim Moorehead and O’Neal Malone Moorehead.

Jennie was a woman who cherished the simple things in life. She especially enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband before his passing. She was also an exceptionally talented seamstress and could hand-sew like no other. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of the Missionary Baptist faith. Jennie also loved to read and found comfort and enjoyment in the pages of a good book.

Jennie retired from the hospital when her health began to decline. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her many talents, her love of family, and the memories she created throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, Judy Lynn Griggs of Fayetteville, AR, Loucretia Ann Schaltz of Houston, TX, Billy Gene Stoner of Newport, AR, Jimmy Carl Stoner of Searcy, AR, and Paul Richard Stoner of Searcy, AR; a sister, Thelma Clemons; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, CW Ward, a son, Wesley Stoner of Illinois, and siblings, Jimmy Moorehead, Wilma Whaley, and Major “Red” Moorehead.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026 at the Watson Cemetery in Newport.
