Janie Mae (Smith) Watson, 95, of Searcy, passed away, Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born January 5, 1930 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Walker Hale Smith and Annie Marie (Cox) Smith.
She was a devoted member of the Baptist faith. She loved fishing and camping and was an avid Razorback fan, enthusiastically following all of their sports. She found great joy in yard work, which she continued to do until the last four years of her life. Traveling was another passion she greatly enjoyed.
She was a mild-mannered lady, unless she felt that someone had mistreated her family or friends—then she was quick to stand up for those she loved. She treated everyone she met with respect and kindness and deeply cherished her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jean (Watson) Snelson; sister, Paulette Stout (Dean); nieces, Donna England (Steve), Gina Doughty (Doug), Melanie Parker (Lanc), Teresa Brown (Don), Pam Everett (Chuck), Sharon Smith, Leah Baird, Jeri Dee Schulz (Jason), and Sandy Langley; nephews, Alan Smith (Cindy) and Keith Landis (Missy); as well as a host of relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 60 years, William Rudolph Watson, Jr. “Bill”; brothers, WH Smith (Carolyn), Albert “Chub” Smith (Ruthie), and Jerry Don Smith (Betty) and a sister, Peggy Landis (Ruel).
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the Searcy McEuen Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the White County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
