James Henry Slayton

James Henry Slayton, 59 of Searcy, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2006. He was born September 20, 1947 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Seth and Lorene (Merritt) Slayton. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Searcy. He served his country through the U.S. Army as a veteran in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Slayton.
He is survived by his wife, Erma (Covington) Slayton; daughter, Jayme Slayton; step-son, Jeremy Smith; two step-daughters, Audra Evans and Amanda Cullum and husband Jason; six step-grandchildren, all of Searcy; his brother, Jerry Slayton and wife Sue of Searcy; three sisters, Barbara Hearn and husband Bobby of Judsonia, Carolyn Leehy and husband Glen of Holden, Missouri, Kim Engle of Judsonia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 15, 2006 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Searcy-McEuen Chapel. Interment will be at White County Memorial Gardens.
