James "Jim" Russel Bailey Jr

James “Jim” Russel Bailey Jr., 78, of Griffithville passed away Monday, August 28th at his home. He was born July 19, 1939 in Griffithville, Arkansas to the late James and Lura Ethel (Jackson) Bailey.

After graduation from Griffithville High School, Jim received a B.A. Business and Math Degree from Harding University.  He went on to earn a M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Memphis, as well as an Ed. Sp./Administration degree from the University of Arkansas.  He spent 34 years as a professional educator.  He was an active member of both the Arkansas and White County Retired Teacher Associations.  He also was a life-time professional horseman as a showman, trainer, judge, and mentor in White County, the state of Arkansas, and the AQHA community of fellow horsemen.  Jim received honors and awards too numerous to list in both the field of public education and his professional horse affiliations.  Jim will be missed and was dearly loved by his family, friends, and community.  Jim was at peace with his Lord and Savior.  Memorials may be made to:  Dogwood Cemetery Fund, Griffithville Senior Citizens Center, and the Griffithville Church of Christ. 

Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his brother, Daryl Bailey and wife, Ricki of Little Rock, Arkansas; two nieces, Ashley Whitlow and husband, Jeff of Little Rock, Arkansas and Whitney Stewart and husband, Joey of Germantown, Tennessee; two great nephews, Connor and Noah Whitlow; one great niece, Harper Stewart; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 1st from 10:00-11:00am at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 1st starting at 11:00am in the Searcy-McEuen Chapel.

Interment will follow at Dogwood Cemetery in Griffithville.
