Dewey Lee Townsend, 71, of Searcy went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 after a long hospital stay from complications of back surgery. He was born September 28, 1948 to J.D. and Eloise (Moffitt) Townsend.

Dewey was a United States Army Veteran. Having served in Vietnam in 1970 as part of the 101 Airborne Division. He worked for Arkansas Precast in Jacksonville, Arkansas for 35 years. Dewey was a Deacon of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church for many years and also served as Treasurer. Dewey was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish Dewey’s memory is his wife of 51 years, Reva Townsend; one son, Teddy Townsend (Linda); one sister, Glenda Hensley; one brother-in-law, Roger Pate (Nancy); two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Staggs; and Renee Drake (David); two Uncles, Elzie Moffitt (Mary Nell), and Clayton Moffitt (Patsy); two Aunts, Orean Taylor, and Mary Harris (Roger); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19th  at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 20th in the Searcy McEuen Chapel with burial following at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Joy.
