DC Benton

January 7, 1941 — August 11, 2017

DC Benton, 76, of Searcy died Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home. He was born January 7, 1941 in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas to the late Everett and Hazel (Wiggs) Benton.

DC was a common man with many talents and he used those talents in the way God showed him to use them. He was a wood worker. He could take an old piece of wood and make something beautiful of it. DC was an artist, having drawn several pictures over the years and even won 1st place for several years at the White County Fair. DC was a musician. He played several instruments, the guitar, dobro, mandolin, and the harmonica. He played with the Court House Singer’s, at nursing homes, weddings, and family reunions. He also loved to sing. He would sing bluegrass and country gospel. DC’s favorite song was “Why Me Lord.” His favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. He played the part of a grandfather which he did very well. His grandchildren and great grandchildren all loved him very much and will never forget him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 and half years, Carolyn Benton; one brother, Coy Benton; one sister, Elouise Hunter; five step children; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. DC will be loved forever and never forgotten.

DC was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hazel Benton; and three brothers, Lynwood, Travis, and Max.
