Charles Hugh Weir

Charles Hugh Weir, 90, of Searcy, passed away, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Unity Health Hospital in Searcy. He was born December 11, 1932 in McRae, Arkansas to the late Thurman Lee and Mattie Mae (Harrison) Weir. Charles was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army. He retired from Sears in 1997; during his 40-year employment with Sears he won numerous sales and company awards. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He and his wife were faithful members of the Westside Church of Christ.  

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise (Akridge) Weir; son, Charles Steven Weir and wife Marie of San Diego, California; daughter, Rita Jo Seely and husband Brian of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren, Cecily Weir Jaeger (Andreas), Matthew Steven Weir, Garrett Caelan Weir, Christy Leach (Chris), Karen Diane Sydlak (Michael), and Robyn Seely; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Joe B. Weir, Ray O. Weir, James Weir and Letricia Bean.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Searcy McEuen Funeral Home with services to begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Weir Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Searcy Children’s Home or a charity of your choice in honor of Charles.
