Boyd Tripp

Boyd Tripp, 77 of Griffithville passed away Monday, January 25th at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1943 in Griffithville to the late Ray and Trula (Walker) Tripp.

Boyd was a member of West Point Baptist Church. He was a very tender hearted, loving, kind, and generous man. He would raise a garden every year and shared with all the widows in Griffithville. He was a very hard-working man. He spent most of his time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting for arrow heads and making bird houses. Boyd was a family man; he treasured each and everyone of them. However, his granddaughter, Gracie was the apple of his eye. He cherished her and she affectionately called him “Big Pa.” Boyd was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, June Tripp; one daughter, Cheryl Cherry (Mark) of Searcy; one granddaughter, Gracie Cherry of Searcy; three brothers, Ray Homer (Peggy), Billy Ray (Diane), and Roy Dale Tripp (Myria); two sisters, Janie Lucille Payne, and Mary Louise Garrett (Ronnie) all of Griffithville; and numerous friends and relatives.

In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded by one son, Boyd Everett Tripp; and one sister, Lueweda Jameson.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, January 28th with funeral services starting at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 28th in the Searcy McEuen Chapel with burial following at White County Memorial Gardens.

Officiating will be Bro. Billy Person and Bro. Dean Dill. Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Tripp, Tate Wayne Tripp, Mark Cherry, Ray Ramsey, David Vaughn, and Brady Paul Vaughn.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

I remember when my mom worked at the Big N Little Short stop in Griff. She told me that theres this older gentleman that would come in the store and he reminded her of the man from Sling Blade. One day as I was coming in the store for a lunch a guy in overalls was coming out and held the door open for me I said Thank You he said hmmm hmmm just like the old guy did. I was like Oh my goodness!!! He found out about it laughed and from then on if he'd see me he would say there's that crazy girl. Boyd was a great man and I will miss him from here on out. Prayers for the family love you. Tonya Marks

My family and myself was living outside of Griff and my son and his cousins apparently got so bored that they had went out in Boyds brothers corn field and make a couple maybe 2 or 3 crop circles, so I took my boys the next morning to apologize to the field owner, low and behold Boyd was fixing to go pick some black eyed peas... needless to say they will not help me pick anything out of the garden especially black eyed peas but the boys picked maybe a 5 gallon bucket and half of peas and I picked 2 5 gallon buckets for Mr. Boyd we left what we picked only for him to bring them to the house for us to have. And the 3 boys and myself was kind of scared of him but he IS the SWEETEST AND KINDEST Tripp that I have met. Rest In Peace Mr. Boyd. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, daughter, Gracie and the rest of the Family
