Bessie Inman

December 29, 1937 — November 18, 2017

Bessie Inman, age 79, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, November 18, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer.  She was a faithful member of Kensett Baptist Church.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life.

Bessie was born to the late Milton and Rella Mae Ashworth Sloan on December 29, 1937 in Garner Arkansas.  She married the late Donald Inman and they were blessed with three children.

Bessie is survived by three children, Kenny Inman (Pat), Keith Inman (Cindy) and Felicia Inman; three grandchildren, Autumn Inman (Greg Spears) of Lewisburg, West Virginia, Matthew Inman (Ariel) of Searcy, Arkansas  and Justin McSpadden (Leah) of McRae, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Everett Inman, Brecken Inman, Caoilainn McSpadden and Declan McSpadden.  She is also survived by one brother – Dewey Sloan (Faye) of Garner; three sisters, Lillie Howell, Jane Taylor and Blanche Lawson, all of Garner; and one sister-in law, Helen Sloan of West Point.

Bessie is predeceased by her husband, Donald Inman; four brothers – James, Jim, Daniel (Bud) and George Sloan; two infant brothers and one sister – Sue Allen.

Bessie retired from Amana after having worked there for over thirty years with a perfect attendance record.  Her co-workers knew her as a hardworking, dedicated employee.

Taking care of others needs came naturally for Bessie.   She was always there to care for the sick and the hurting, whether it be sitting by your side, taking you to the doctor, visiting with you, calling to check on you or if you were really lucky, cooking you up a pot of chicken and dumplings, a bowl of potato salad or one of her signature cakes.

Bessie loved taking care of her yard, growing flowers and cooking for her family and friends.  The joy of her life was her children and grandchildren.

Bessie Inman was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await after her passing.
