Barbara J. Churchwell

Barbara Jean (Hodges) Churchwell, 88, of Griffithville, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025. She was born August 9, 1937 in Jasmine, Arkansas to Roland & Goldie (McClellan) Hodges. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy E. Churchwell; 4 sisters, Lena Churchwell, Sandra Holloway, Twila Hodges, Alsidene Hamilton; 4 brothers, R.H. Hodges, Loyal Hodges, Roney Hodges, Dwayne Hodges; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Churchwell.

She is survived by her children, Ricky (Cathy) Churchwell of Griffithville , Michael (Karen) Churchwell of Searcy and Charlotte (Bruce) Stevens of Griffithville; grandchildren, Carrie (Tim) White, Virginia Beach, VA, Myron (Heather) Churchwell, Griffithville, AR, Jessica (Nathan) Moreland, Greenbrier, AR, Daniel (Madison Mittag) Stevens, Walnut Ridge, AR, Kayla (Jared) Churchwell, Jacksonville, AR, Jordan (Paul) Hiblong Hot Springs, AR, Jade Mershon, Searcy, AR, Callahan Simmons, Searcy, AR, Cameron (Layne) Boyd, Searcy, AR, Elijah Simmons, Searcy, AR, Halle Simmons, Searcy, AR. Tucker Churchwell, Searcy, AR, Rumor Simmons, Searcy, AR; 13 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a proud Birds Eye and ITT Higby employee where she worked until retirement. She was an energetic volunteer at Unity Health until 2020. She was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Barbara’s life will be at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Welcome Home Cemetery in Des Arc, AR. www.searcymceuenfuneralhome.com.
