Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert Byron Hogg Jr.

February 23, 1920 ~ November 8, 2017 (age 97)

The Piano Brothers

Bob was born February 23, 1920, to Sammie Jay Lancaster Hogg and Robert Byron Hogg, in Hillsboro, TX, where he attended Hillsboro High School and Hillsboro Jr. College.  He then went on to attend the University of Texas, majoring in chemical engineering, before going to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company (now Mobil) in Beaumont, TX.  Bob was a WWII veteran and landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  Because of his knowledge and experience with chemicals, he was immediately assigned to the Chemical Warfare Supply Company.

As the war was coming to an end, he was offered a special appointment to attend the University of Sorbonne in Paris.  Bob valued the program, where he enjoyed a lecture given by Nobel Prize recipient, Sir Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin and also got to meet Charles De Gaulle.

While living in Clifton, TX, he was co-owner of the Clifton Auto Store and met the love of his life, Alleen Eaton.  He and Alleen later moved to Arkansas to raise cattle.  They enjoyed living near Yellville, AR, for many years and then retired to Searcy, AR.

Bob was preceded in death by Alleen, his wife of 47 years, stepson, Richard Eaton, daughter-in-law, Joyce Eaton and his sisters, Margaret Hall and Catherine Howard.  He is survived by a sister, Marie McNeil of Dallas, TX; stepson, Don Eaton, (wife Betsy), of Birmingham, AL; Bill Eaton of Waco, TX; stepdaughter, Sandy Kraft, (husband Cecil) of Conway, AR, and daughter-in-law, Pat Eaton, of Searcy, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
